Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a practice of becoming aware of the present moment with acceptance of it just as it is. We spend a considerable amount of time thinking about events that have happened in the past or what might be about to happen, which can lead to feelings of anxiety, stress or depression. By bringing attention into the present moment, we can begin to let go of these thoughts and experience moments just as they really are. This leads to feelings of connection and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Scientific research over the last few decades has shown numerous benefits of mindfulness including:

  • Reduction in stress, anxiety & depression

  • Greater sense of well-being

  • Increased ability to relax

  • Increased self-awareness and confidence

  • Increased ability to cope with difficult situations

  • More resilient to life’s challenges

  • Enhanced communication skills

  • Improved concentration & sleep

  • Chronic pain management

  • Improved immunity, blood pressure & heart rate

Through regular practice we learn to become more genuine and to live without deception. We learn to accept ourselves more fully and develop an unconditional friendliness towards ourselves and the world around. This creates a sense of stability and mental strength which in turn allows us to open and let go more.
