Service Description

When most of us begin a journey of meditation practice, we hope that we may be able to get rid of, or overcome our difficult emotions such as anger, fear, anxiety and depression. However, the more we sit, the more these emotions seem to arise. “Are we doing something wrong?” we wonder. Pema Chodron states that “in order for us to be fully present, to experience life fully, we need to acknowledge and accept all our emotions” and that meditation gives us the opportunity to experience our emotions “naked and fresh”, which can be a “radical and potent way of awakening”. This day retreat will explore the nature of our emotions and how to work with them as an object of our meditation. We will explore methods of working ‘with’ instead of ‘against’ our emotions, both as a formal practice and how we may relate to our emotions during daily life. The day will include guided meditation practices, short talks, contemplation, dialogues and discussions. A simple lunch will be provided. The suggested donation is £55, however please offer only what you afford.
