Tai Chi Workshop - Using The Kua
Concepts and Principles - The use of the hip joint
Available spots
Service Description
Developing your Kuas improves the health of the whole pelvis and makes the Art of Tai Chi powerful and practical. As we open, clear and strengthen the energy channels running through the pelvis, the chi of the upper and lower body unites, increasing internal power and wellbeing. Understanding and strengthening the Kuas improves the function of your waist, supporting your centre (Tan Tien). In Tai Chi, power and movement comes from your waist and stillness, sensitivity and mindfulness is found. The Kuas are not just the hip joints, but refer to the usage area of the hips in internal energy generation and circulation. Traditionally the knowledge of how to use the kuas was a closely guarded secret, as it made robust, strong martial artists. This Tai Chi workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and advanced students alike, moving you on from wherever you are. Practice will be mainly in pairs or small groups. The workshop is done standing. Expect physical contact with other participants. Nick is known for his clear explanations and demonstrations of the Art and has been training the Art intensely under Master Ding since 1999. Prior to this he spent two decades learning external martial arts such as Wing Chun, Chinese Kickboxing and Judo amongst others. He also has a powerful body therapy/massage method based on his experiences in Tai Chi and other healing modalities such as physiotherapy, Swedish massage, acupressure, shiatsu, osteopathy, shamanism and more. He has also been a student of Buddhist meditation and mindfulness since 2012.
